McLarty Associates’ Global Strategies Practice Welcomes Philippe Maze-Sencier as Senior Director

I am pleased to announce that Philippe Maze-Sencier has joined our Global Strategies practice as a Senior Director.
With nearly two decades of experience in government affairs, managing global clients and dealing with governments around the world, Philippe will enhance our ability to assist clients to address national, regional and transnational challenges.
Philippe previously led the global government relations practice at APCO Worldwide, and headed the Brussels and Paris APCO offices before that. In addition to his deep expertise in Europe, he brings a strong background in Africa and India. He will also bring an enhanced understanding of the way that digital media and sophisticated communications strategies can support government affairs.
Philippe is also a skilled advocate in Washington. With his experience advising companies on their Washington strategies and interacting with U.S. officials, he will also be an addition to our McLarty Inbound team. Philippe will base in our Washington, DC office.
Philippe Maze-Sencier
Before joining McLarty, Mr. Maze-Sencier was executive director in the Washington office of APCO Worldwide, where he led APCO’s government relations practice. He has nearly 20 years of experience working with governments in Europe, Africa, India, and North America. He has led strategic communications campaigns supporting market entry strategies, mergers and acquisitions, reputation management and CEO positioning, as well as offensive and defensive outreach campaigns. He has also worked with EU and national government agencies to advance mergers in the aerospace, energy, defense, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Mr. Maze-Sencier previously served as managing director of APCO’s Brussels office, having run the company’s Paris office before that. In between those roles, Mr. Maze-Sencier managed APCO’s operations in India, the Middle East, and Africa. He was named managing director of APCO’s French operations after returning to APCO from the European Aerospace and Defence Company (EADS), where he served as senior manager for international development, responsible for managing relationships with French government and parliamentary leaders and working with French and European authorities on EU-level cooperative defense programs.
Mr. Maze-Sencier worked in APCO’s Paris and Brussels offices before joining EADS. Prior to joining APCO, he worked for the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva; at the delegation of the European Commission in Washington, DC; and for the spirits division of the French luxury group LVMH in France and Germany.
Mr. Maze-Sencier holds a master of science in foreign service from Georgetown University and a master of arts in law (Cantab) from Cambridge University. During the course of his studies, he spent one year at the University of Bonn in Germany as a Konrad Adenauer fellow. He is fluent in French, English, and German. A graduate of the Staff Military School in Paris and the Military Intelligence School in Strasbourg, he is a major in the French army reserves and has served multiple deployments in Africa.
