Program Overview

McLarty Associates is proud to offer paid temporary positions through our Internship and Graduate Fellowship Program. We seek highly motivated students who are interested in learning more about the field of international strategic advising and who have a strong background in regional and international studies as well as economics, trade and/or business.

Interns and Graduate Fellows are an integral part of our team. The focus of the internship is on research and writing, however selected students are viewed as active participants in the entire client services process and thus get exposure beyond research.

Students who are currently attaining a Master’s degree are eligible to be a Graduate Fellow.

Our Internships and Graduate Fellowships are offered on a semester basis:

  • Spring: January to May (applications accepted beginning in November)
  • Summer: June to August (applications accepted beginning in March)
  • Fall: September to December (applications accepted beginning in July)

Internship and Graduate Fellowship Opportunities

Internship or Graduate Fellowship, Office of the Chairman

McLarty Associates is seeking applicants with demonstrated interest in international affairs and business for a full-time, paid internship. The core area of responsibility will focus on supporting the office of the Chairman in business development initiatives.

The intern will conduct extensive research on prevailing international business trends and geopolitical issues, produce briefs and company profiles to generate business development leads, attend and report on policy forums of interest to the firm and clients, and assist professional staff with general office and administrative support. Experience or interest in the tech industry is a plus. Candidates must be able to commit to work full-time January through approximately mid-May, with a preference that the candidate be able to work 40 hours per week.

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Experience researching
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Creativity and the ability to take initiative on projects
  • A strong background and a demonstrated interest in international affairs and business
  • An understanding of international politics, economics, government relations, and the private sector
  • Foreign language skills are considered a plus
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Internship or Graduate Fellowship, Southeast Asia

McLarty Associates is seeking a graduate student or undergraduate senior for a paid semester internship focusing on Southeast Asia. This individual will also occasionally assist the Trade and Northeast Asia practices.

The intern/graduate fellow will conduct extensive research on public policy, business, and trade issues; attend and report on speeches, panel discussions, and policy forums of interest to the firm and clients; and assist professional staff with general office and administrative support. Candidates must be able to commit to working from January through May with a preference for applicants who can work full-time (40 hours per week).

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Exceptional research, writing, and organizational skills
  • A strong background and demonstrated interest in Southeast Asia
  • An understanding of international politics, economics, government relations, and the private sector
  • Experience living and/or studying in Southeast Asia
  • Fluency in a regional language, particularly in Indonesian or Vietnamese, is preferred but not required
  • A strong background in trade issues on a regional and global level is viewed as a plus
