McLarty Associates, an Ankura company, welcomes Dr. Paul Angelo as Managing Director for Northern Latin America, further strengthening Ankura’s advisory capabilities across the Western Hemisphere.
Based in Washington, DC, Dr. Angelo brings more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of national security, foreign policy, and regional geopolitics in Latin America. He has deep expertise advising multinational organizations operating across Central America, the Andes, and the Caribbean. A fluent Spanish speaker and seasoned advisor, he works closely with leadership teams to navigate complex political, security, and governance challenges shaping today’s commercial environment.
Prior to joining McLarty Associates, Dr. Angelo served as Director of the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies at the National Defense University, where he led strategic education and research initiatives focused on governance, human rights, transnational threats, climate resilience, and emerging technology policy in the Americas.
His earlier experience includes senior roles at the Council on Foreign Relations where he focused on U.S.-Latin American relations, service with the U.S. Department of State abroad, and more than a decade of active-duty and reserve service in the U.S. Navy, including multiple deployments in the region.
