Biography

Associate, Southeast Asia

Meghan Murphy, Associate, supports our Southeast Asia practice. Meghan brings a strong background in Indo-Pacific policy, with a focus on U.S.-China strategic competition in ASEAN. Prior to joining McLarty Associates, she served as the 2024-2025 Schwarzman Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York. Her previous experience includes roles at leading policy institutions, such as the Southeast Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the East-West Center’s Young Professional Program. She also interned in the Political and Economic Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, worked in the offices of two U.S. members of Congress, and led the work of a refugee education organization in Providence. Meghan holds a master’s degree in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, where she studied as a Schwarzman Scholar, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brown University. Raised abroad, she has lived in Myanmar, Lesotho, Thailand, Morocco, Cambodia, Taiwan, and China. She has studied Arabic and Mandarin.
