Kali Caldwell is McLarty Media’s Director for Creative Development.
Ms. Caldwell joins McLarty Media after more than a decade at the Central Intelligence Agency, where she served as the Agency’s Entertainment Industry Liaison. In this role, she delivered access and authentic insights and dispelled myths on life and work at the CIA for TV and film producers, authors, video game developers, and writers. Ms. Caldwell also consulted creatively as part of the production team on several hit shows, including Showtime’s Spymasters, CNN’s Declassified series, NBC’s Allegiance, and Amazon Prime’s upcoming Jack Ryan series. Mixing practical insights in to intelligence and national security topics with creative storytelling capabilities, she is able to enhance authenticity and help writers, directors, producers and actors avoid stereotypes, missteps and inaccuracies.
During her career, Ms. Caldwell also served as a senior intelligence analyst in counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and political issues, assessing national security threats across the globe. She also completed assignments as a Media Spokesperson, navigating highest-profile media engagements for the CIA Director and other leaders and driving media strategies in response to reputation crises. Ms. Caldwell was a champion of diversity and inclusion while at the Agency, managing the public release of the Agency’s 2015 Diversity in Leadership Report, pitching Newsweek’s Women in the CIA cover story in 2016 and Advocate’s feature on the first openly transgender CIA officer (2014), and placing several other stories on workforce diversity with national media outlets.
Ms. Caldwell is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, holds a MS in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS in Political Science from Spelman College, and has completed academic programs and work assignments in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
