Alden Hartopo

Alden Hartopo, Senior Associate, supports our Asia team and is a specialist in Southeast Asian affairs.

Alden received his MA in International Economic Relations from American University’s School of International Service (SIS) where he concentrated in International Business and Trade. During his graduate studies, Alden worked in the East Asia and Pacific practice at the Albright Stonebridge Group and was a researcher in the Southeast Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He was also an international trade policy intern at the American Enterprise Institute and held summer internships at Goldman Sachs and The Jakarta Globe.

A native of Jakarta, Indonesia, Alden speaks Bahasa Indonesia. He received his undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI where he double majored in Economics and International Relations.

Outside of McLarty, Alden helps run the DC Asia Policy Network, a community of over 2,000 young professionals interested and/or working on Asia policy issues. He is also a member of the Pacific Forum Young Leaders program.
